The School of Journalism & Communication seeks an Administrative Program Assistant for its George S. Turnbull Portland Center.

This position provides administrative support for the center director, faculty and students; represents the center to UO and external constituents; arranges public events and coordinates marketing of center programs.  The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree; three years of office and project management experience; strong oral and written communication skills; and experience using computers for word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.  Marketing experience desired.  Salary range $35,000 - $40,000. This position is based in Portland.

The School of Journalism & Communication
The Eugene-based school serves more than 1,400 undergraduate students as premajors and majors in advertising, communication studies, electronic media, magazine, news/editorial and public relations and approximately 80 graduate students in master’s and doctoral programs.  The school offers doctoral and master’s programs in communication and society as well as professional master’s programs in news/editorial, magazine and literary nonfiction.  The school opened its George S. Turnbull Center in Portland in January 2006 and offers a master’s program in strategic communication.  The Turnbull Center offers workshops and graduate seminars for working professionals, a Senior Experience combining internships and afternoon classes for undergraduate students and opportunities for communications professionals to meet and discuss emerging issues in journalism and communication.  Accredited by the ACEJMC, the school is nationally known for its commitment to teaching excellence.  More information about the school is available through our website at: jcomm.uoregon.edu.
