Employment Opportunity: Visiting Instructor of News / Editorial Journalism

The School of Journalism and Communication at the University of Oregon seeks a Visiting Instructor of News / Editorial Journalism for the 2008-2009 academic year.

This faculty member will teach courses in basic, advanced and specialized reporting; serve as advisor to Mosaic, our student-produced newspaper; advise the student chapter of SPJ; and organize Journalist-in-Residence short courses.

The successful candidate will have an advanced degree, professional newspaper reporting experience, as well as teaching experience.  Strong professional connections and multimedia experience are highly valued.


The School of Journalism & Communication
The School offers doctoral and master’s programs in communication and society as well as professional master’s programs in news/editorial, magazine, strategic communication and literary nonfiction.  The undergraduate program serves more then 1,500 majors and pre-majors in six majors— advertising, communication studies, electronic media, magazine, news/editorial and public relations— and approximately 100 graduate students in master’s and doctoral programs.  Accredited by ACEJMC, the School is nationally known for its commitment to teaching excellence.  In 2006, the School opened the George S.
